Service & Care Agreement

Service & Care Agreement
The Pet Care Club of Seattle
Version 2026.1 | Effective October 1st, 2026

Welcome
Thank you for choosing The Pet Care Club of Seattle.

Inviting someone into your home and trusting them with your pets is a meaningful decision. This Agreement explains the legal relationship between you and The Pet Care Club, sets expectations on both sides, and makes clear who is responsible for what if something unexpected happens.

We have written it in plain English wherever we can. It still contains real legal provisions, because they protect you as much as they protect us, but our goal here is clarity rather than complexity.

How our documents fit together:

Document
What it covers
Service Agreement (this document)
The legal terms of our relationship. Liability, insurance, home access, authorizations, dispute resolution.
Client Care Policies & Handbook
How we operate day to day. Scheduling, billing timelines, cancellations, holidays, weather, communication.
Membership Agreement
Terms specific to the Canine Behavior & Enrichment Membership, for clients enrolled in it.
Your invoices, service orders, and booking confirmations
The specific services you have selected and what they cost.

All of these work together. The Handbook and the Membership Agreement are incorporated into this Agreement by reference. Where they describe operations and this Agreement addresses legal responsibility, both apply. If there is ever a direct conflict on a question of legal responsibility, this Agreement controls.

Please read this carefully before scheduling services. If you have questions, contact us before your first visit.

1. Who This Agreement Is Between
Why this section matters
Most of our clients stay with us for years. Rather than signing a new contract every time you book, this Agreement establishes one ongoing relationship that carries forward.

Agreement

1.1 This Service Agreement ("Agreement") is entered into between The Pet Care Club of Seattle ("The Pet Care Club," "Company," "we," "us," or "our") and the person accepting it ("Client," "Owner," "you," or "your").

1.2 This Agreement governs all current and future services we provide to you unless it is amended by the Company, a newer version is accepted by you, a signed written agreement specifically supersedes part of it, or applicable law requires otherwise.

1.3 By requesting services, enrolling in a membership, accepting a booking confirmation, or allowing us to care for your pets, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Agreement.

1.4 We may update this Agreement from time to time. For material changes, we will give you at least thirty (30) days' notice by email and may require you to accept the updated version before further services are provided. Non-material updates take effect when posted. Your continued use of services after the notice period constitutes acceptance.

1.5 You represent that you are at least eighteen (18) years old and legally able to enter into this Agreement.

2. Services
Why this section matters
Every household and every pet is different. Rather than list every possible service, this section defines what is covered and explains how future bookings become part of our ongoing relationship.

Agreement

2.1 We agree to provide the professional pet care services you request and we accept. These may include:

Behavior + Enrichment Walks (membership)
Classic Walks
Puppy visits
In-home cat care visits
Small pet care
Dog training with a Fear Free Certified Trainer
Medication administration
Feeding and fresh water
Litter box maintenance
Mail, newspaper, and package collection incidental to a pet care visit
Adjusting lights, blinds, and similar household tasks directly related to the visit
Other services we specifically accept

2.2 The specific services, dates, frequency, membership selections, pricing, and fees are set out in your service order, booking confirmation, invoice, or membership enrollment.

2.3 Visit timing. Visit times are approximate. Route flow, traffic, weather, the needs of the pets on the route, and emergencies all affect timing. We do not guarantee an exact arrival time unless we have agreed to one in writing.

2.4 No guarantee of availability. Nothing in this Agreement guarantees the availability of any specific service, team member, date, time, or route. All services remain subject to staffing, scheduling, safety, and Company approval. Care is delivered by your dog's Care Team, and any member of that team may cover a given visit.

2.5 Legacy services. As we transition to a membership-focused model, certain services remain available only as a courtesy to qualifying existing clients, and only when staffing allows. Legacy services currently include boarding, almost-overnight stays, overnight visits, day care, evening care, and vacation pet visits.

Legacy services are not available to all clients, are offered solely at our discretion, remain subject to staffing, are not guaranteed for any future booking, and may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time. Nothing in this Agreement creates an ongoing right to receive a legacy service.

2.6 Off-leash activity. We do not provide off-leash walking, off-leash exercise, or off-leash recreation. Dogs in our care remain leashed and under handler control at all times except within a securely fenced private yard belonging to the client, where the client has authorized it in writing.

3. Your Responsibilities
Why this section matters
Great care depends on accurate information. Our team makes decisions every day based on what is in your profile. Wrong, missing, or out-of-date information can put your pet at risk, delay service, or create danger for the person walking them.

Agreement

3.1 You agree to provide complete, accurate, and current information about yourself, your household, and your pets, and to update us promptly whenever anything changes.

3.2 At minimum, you agree to keep current:

Category
Includes
Pet
Identification, age, breed, medical history, medications, allergies, mobility limitations, feeding instructions
Behavior
Behavioral history, bite history, reactivity, escape history, resource guarding, fear triggers
Veterinary
Primary veterinarian, preferred emergency hospital, authorization limits
Household
Access instructions, lockbox combination, alarm codes, gate codes, emergency procedures, anyone authorized to enter
Contact
Your current phone and email, plus at least one local emergency contact who can reach and enter the home

3.3 You represent that all information you provide is true, accurate, and complete to the best of your knowledge.

3.4 We are entitled to rely reasonably on the information you give us. We are not responsible for losses, delays, injuries, or damages resulting from information that is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or out of date.

3.5 You represent that you are the lawful owner of the pets, or otherwise have legal authority to authorize services, veterinary treatment, emergency care, and everything else contemplated by this Agreement.

3.6 Supplies. You are responsible for providing food, treats, medication, leashes, harnesses, carriers, litter, waste bags, and other items needed for care. If we determine additional food or supplies are reasonably necessary for your pet's health, safety, or welfare, you authorize us to purchase them and charge the cost plus any applicable service or delivery fee to your payment method on file. We will notify you when we do this.

3.7 Equipment. You are responsible for providing safe, properly fitted, working equipment. If our team determines that a collar, harness, leash, or other equipment is unsafe or inadequate for your dog, we may decline the walk or substitute Company-provided equipment, and we will tell you why.

4. Home Access, Keys, Lockboxes, and Entry Devices
Why this section matters
Reliable home access is essential to timely, consistent care. A failed entry is not a minor inconvenience. It can mean a missed meal, a missed medication, or a dog who waits far too long. Most missed visits in this industry are caused by inaccessible homes, dead batteries, and outdated codes, not by scheduling.

Agreement

4.1 You agree to provide a secure, reliable, Company-approved method of entry to the property during scheduled services.

4.2 Wherever reasonably possible, we require a working lockbox at the property. Lockboxes are the most reliable access method and materially reduce the risk of missed visits.

4.3 Where a building or housing arrangement prohibits an exterior lockbox, we may approve alternatives at our discretion, including physical keys, entry fobs, concierge or front desk access, building call boxes, smart locks, garage codes, gate codes, and other electronic entry systems.

4.4 You authorize us to securely retain keys, entry devices, access credentials, alarm information, and related access materials for as long as reasonably necessary while your account is active.

4.5 Keys and other physical access devices may be destroyed after twelve (12) consecutive months of account inactivity unless you have made prior arrangements with us.

4.6 If you request key pickup or return outside a scheduled service period, a Key Handling Fee may apply per our current pricing schedule.

4.7 Keys will be returned only:

directly to you;
to a person you have specifically authorized in writing;
by Certified Mail or another trackable delivery method we approve; or
by another written method we agree to.

4.8 Unless we specifically authorize it in writing, keys will never be left unsecured at the property after a visit, including the final visit of a service period.

4.9 You are responsible for keeping locks, doors, gates, alarms, smart locks, garage doors, and all other access systems in proper working order.

4.10 We are not responsible for delays, missed visits, resulting harm, or additional costs arising from incorrect access information, malfunctioning locks or electronic systems, dead batteries, internet or power outages affecting smart-home devices, inaccessible entry points, or any other condition outside our reasonable control. Where we cannot gain entry, we will attempt to reach you and your emergency contact, and the visit may be billed as scheduled.

5. Restroom Use During Services
Why this section matters

Our Care Team spends most of the workday traveling between homes across north Seattle. We encourage the use of public facilities whenever practical, but there are stretches of route where that is not possible without delaying care for other pets. Handwashing also matters for the safety of your pet and the next pet on the route. We would rather name this openly than leave our team guessing.

Agreement

5.1 We encourage employees to use public or other appropriate restroom facilities whenever reasonably practical before or after scheduled visits.

5.2 Because employees travel directly between clients for extended periods, circumstances may occasionally require an employee to briefly use a client's restroom while actively performing a scheduled service. Such circumstances include extended travel routes, consecutive appointments, medical necessity, emergencies, and the lack of a reasonably available public facility.

5.3 When an employee uses a client's restroom, they are required to exercise reasonable care, maintain appropriate cleanliness, promptly clean any accidental mess, leave the restroom substantially as they found it, and immediately report any accidental damage to the Company. Failure to meet these standards is a violation of Company policy and may result in disciplinary action.

5.4 Restroom and handwashing use is limited to what is reasonably necessary during the visit. It does not extend to showering, bathing, laundry, meals, or any other personal use of your home, and it does not extend beyond the scheduled service window.

5.5 Nothing in this section requires an employee to use a client's restroom or creates any expectation that facilities will routinely be used.

5.6 Opting out. If you prefer that our team not use the restroom in your home, tell us in writing and we will note it on your account and honor it. Please understand it may affect the length or structure of the visits we can schedule for you.

6. Third Parties and Home Security
Why this section matters
Our employees frequently enter homes while clients are away. Unexpected people inside a home create genuine safety concerns for your pet, your property, and our team, and they can complicate insurance coverage. Knowing who may be present lets us do our job safely.

Agreement

6.1 You agree to notify us in advance of any person who may be present at or have access to the property during scheduled services, including family members, roommates, friends, house guests, contractors, housekeepers, maintenance personnel, real estate agents, property managers, trainers, other pet professionals, neighbors with access, landlords, and any other third party.

6.2 If an employee encounters an unexpected person at the property, the employee may take whatever reasonable action they believe necessary to protect themselves, your pet, and your property, including leaving the property, delaying the visit, contacting Company management, contacting you, contacting your emergency contacts, or contacting emergency services if circumstances reasonably warrant.

6.3 We may discontinue or modify services whenever an employee reasonably believes a situation presents a safety concern.

6.4 You understand that the presence of undisclosed third parties may affect available insurance coverage depending on the facts of a claim and the terms of our policy.

6.5 To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses or damages arising from the acts or omissions of undisclosed or unauthorized third parties, and you release and hold us harmless from claims relating to your pet, home, or property where the loss occurs in connection with the presence, conduct, or access of a third party you did not disclose to us in writing.

7. Payment Authorization and Collection
Why this section matters

Rates, billing timelines, cancellation charges, surcharges, and holiday fees are all covered in the Client Care Policies & Handbook. This section covers only the legal authorization that lets us charge the payment method you have on file, and what happens if an account goes unpaid.

Agreement

7.1 Card on file. You agree to keep a valid credit or debit card on file for as long as your account is active, and you authorize us to charge it for amounts owed under this Agreement, the Handbook, the Membership Agreement, and our published pricing, including:

service fees and membership fees
consultation fees
deposits
cancellation and holiday charges
surcharges for premium service windows
supply and equipment reimbursements
emergency veterinary, medication, and transport costs
approved additional services
damage caused by your pet
late fees and collection costs

in each case as permitted by applicable law and card network rules.

7.2 Recurring charges. Where you are enrolled in a membership or other recurring service, you authorize recurring charges on the schedule described in the applicable agreement. We will tell you the amount and frequency before the first charge, and we will give you at least thirty (30) days' written notice before any price increase. You may cancel recurring charges as described in the Membership Agreement or by contacting our office.

7.3 Revoking authorization. You may revoke your card authorization at any time in writing. Revoking it does not cancel amounts already owed, and we may suspend services until a valid payment method is provided.

7.4 Failed payments. If a charge is declined or a payment method fails, you remain responsible for the balance, and we may suspend services until it is resolved.

7.5 Disputes. If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us within fourteen (14) days so we can review it. We will work with you in good faith. Filing a chargeback without first contacting us makes it harder for us to resolve the issue and may result in suspension of services.

7.6 Collections. We may refer unpaid balances to a licensed collection agency. You remain responsible for the full unpaid amount together with late fees, lawful collection costs, and other lawful costs of enforcement.

7.7 Attorney's fees. In any action or arbitration to enforce this Agreement or collect amounts owed, the prevailing party is entitled to recover its reasonable attorney's fees and costs, to the extent permitted by law. (Washington law makes one-sided attorney fee provisions reciprocal in any event; we have written it that way from the start.)

7.8 Payments outside approved channels. Service payments must go through Company-approved channels. Peer-to-peer payment apps such as Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, Apple Pay, and Cash App are not accepted for service payments. Tips are welcome in cash or through our booking software.

8. Insurance, Assumption of Risk, and Limitation of Liability
Our commitment to you
Your pets' safety is the foundation of everything we do. We screen, train, insure, and support our employees because we recognize the trust our clients place in us every day, and we carry commercial insurance built specifically for professional pet care businesses.

At the same time, caring for animals and entering private homes involves risks that cannot be eliminated no matter how much care is taken. Animals are living creatures with their own instincts. This section explains how responsibility is allocated when something unexpected happens. We would rather be clear about it now than have this conversation for the first time on a hard day.

PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT LIMITS OUR LIABILITY AND AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.

Agreement

8.1 Our duty of care. We agree to exercise reasonable care in providing services to you and your pets.

8.2 Inherent risk. You acknowledge that animals are inherently unpredictable and that professional pet care involves risks that cannot be entirely eliminated despite reasonable precautions. Except where prohibited by law, you accept the inherent risks associated with pet ownership and professional pet care, including illness, injury, escape, property damage, unexpected behavioral changes, interactions with other animals, encounters with wildlife, traffic, equipment failure, severe weather, natural disasters, veterinary emergencies, and circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

8.3 Insurance. We maintain commercial liability insurance. All coverage is governed exclusively by the terms, exclusions, deductibles, conditions, and limits of the applicable policy. Nothing in this Agreement expands or modifies our insurance coverage beyond what the carrier provides, and nothing in this Agreement makes our insurer liable for any claim the policy does not cover.

8.4 Your own insurance. Certain losses may also be covered by your homeowner's, renter's, condominium, pet, or other personal insurance. Maintaining appropriate personal insurance remains your responsibility. Our insurance is not a substitute for yours, and a claim may need to go through more than one carrier depending on the circumstances.

8.5 Release. To the fullest extent permitted by Washington law, and except where caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct, you release and hold harmless The Pet Care Club and its owners, employees, contractors, agents, and representatives from claims arising out of:

injury, illness, escape, disappearance, loss, or death of your pet;
damage to your home or property;
the acts or omissions of third parties;
the acts of other animals or wildlife;
the actions or behavior of your own pet;
inaccurate, incomplete, or undisclosed information you provided, including undisclosed medical or behavioral history;
inaccessible homes and access system failures; and
events beyond our reasonable control.

8.6 Events beyond our control (force majeure). We are not liable for delayed, shortened, rescheduled, or missed visits caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including snow, ice, flooding, storms, wildfire smoke, extreme heat, lightning, power or network outages, road closures, natural disasters, civil unrest, public health emergencies, labor disruptions, or conditions that make travel or entry unsafe. You agree to maintain a local emergency contact who can reach and enter your home and care for your pet if we cannot safely reach the property, and to keep steps, walkways, and entry points reasonably clear of hazards. How we handle scheduling and credits in these situations is covered in the Handbook.

8.7 Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, and except for claims arising from our gross negligence or willful misconduct or that cannot legally be limited:

(a) our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to our services is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for services in the ninety (90) days preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or one thousand dollars ($1,000); and

(b) we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for emotional distress damages, loss of companionship, or loss of use, arising out of or relating to our services.

8.8 Your responsibility for your pet. You remain responsible for loss, damage, injury, claims, costs, and expenses caused by your pet, including injury to our team members, to third parties, to other animals, and damage to homes or property. If an undisclosed medical or behavioral condition results in injury, property damage, additional staffing requirements, or other loss, you may be responsible for those damages to the extent permitted by law.

8.9 Claim response. If a claim is asserted against us, the parties agree that any available insurance coverage will respond in accordance with the applicable policy before any determination of uninsured liability.

8.10 Nothing waived that cannot be waived. Nothing in this Agreement waives or limits liability where such a waiver or limitation is prohibited by Washington law, including claims arising from gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any other non-waivable legal duty. If any part of this section is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect.

8.11 Time limit for claims. Any claim arising out of or relating to our services must be brought within one (1) year after the event giving rise to the claim, or within the shortest period allowed by applicable law if longer.

9. Emergency Veterinary Authorization
Why this section matters

Medical emergencies happen without warning, and delay makes outcomes worse. If your pet needs a veterinarian and we cannot reach you, we are not going to wait. This section gives us the authority to act.

Agreement

9.1 If, in our reasonable judgment, a pet appears to need immediate veterinary attention and neither you nor your designated emergency contact can be reached after reasonable efforts, you authorize us to seek veterinary care on your pet's behalf.

9.2 We may transport the pet to your designated veterinarian, the nearest available emergency veterinary hospital, or another licensed veterinary provider we reasonably believe appropriate.

9.3 You authorize the attending veterinarian to provide examination, stabilization, treatment, hospitalization, surgery, medication, diagnostic testing, and other medical services reasonably necessary to protect your pet's health or life.

9.4 Spending authorization. Unless you have set a different limit in writing on your account, you authorize emergency treatment up to $[____] without further approval. We will continue attempting to reach you for authorization beyond that amount, and will authorize additional care only where a licensed veterinarian advises it is necessary to prevent death or serious suffering and you cannot be reached.

9.5 Euthanasia. We will not authorize euthanasia on your behalf. That decision remains yours. In a situation where a licensed veterinarian recommends euthanasia to prevent suffering and neither you nor your emergency contact can be reached, we will follow the veterinarian's professional guidance and will document all efforts made to contact you.

9.6 Costs. You remain fully responsible for veterinary expenses, prescription medications, emergency transportation, additional staff time required as a result of the emergency, and other reasonable expenses incurred while acting in your pet's best interests.

9.7 Notification. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you throughout an emergency and to provide updates as information becomes available.

9.8 Indemnity. You indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, actions, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorney's fees where recoverable, arising out of veterinary decisions made in good faith on your behalf. We are not liable for medical outcomes resulting from treatment decisions made by licensed veterinary professionals.

9.9 Lost pet. If a pet escapes or goes missing while in our care, we will immediately begin search efforts, notify you and your emergency contact, notify local animal control and area shelters, and continue reasonable search efforts. You authorize us to incur reasonable costs in connection with search and recovery.

10. Your Representations About Your Pet
Why this section matters
Our team can only make safe decisions with the information in front of them. Honest disclosure about health, temperament, and history is what allows us to build the right care plan and assign the right specialist.

Agreement

By entering into this Agreement, you represent and warrant that, to the best of your knowledge, each pet receiving services:

10.1 is free from any known contagious disease or condition that would reasonably place other animals or our employees at risk, unless previously disclosed to us and accepted in writing;

10.2 has received the vaccinations required by law and by Company policy, including Rabies, Bordetella, and DHPP where applicable, unless we have approved an exception in writing based on veterinary recommendation;

10.3 has not demonstrated aggressive or dangerous behavior toward people or animals except as fully disclosed to us;

10.4 has no undisclosed history of biting, escaping, resource guarding, or similar behavior;

10.5 is physically and medically suitable for the services requested; and

10.6 is licensed as required by the City of Seattle and applicable local law.

10.7 You agree to notify us promptly of any change involving illness or injury, contagious conditions, medication changes, behavioral changes, new aggression, changes in household occupants, or any other circumstance that could reasonably affect the safe delivery of services.

10.8 We reserve the right to refuse, suspend, or terminate services if, in our reasonable professional judgment, a pet presents a risk to itself, our employees, other animals, or the public.

11. Legacy In-Home and Overnight Services
Why this section matters
Boarding, day care, evening care, and overnight stays in a team member's home are no longer part of our standard offering. A small number of long-standing clients still receive these as legacy arrangements. This section applies only to them.

Agreement

11.1 Where a legacy service is provided in the home of a Company representative or an affiliated care provider, you acknowledge and agree that:

you remain responsible for injury, illness, or damage caused by your pet, including damage to the representative's home and property;
you may be charged for property damage, veterinary expenses, cleaning, and other costs caused by your pet; and
we may bill the card on file for those amounts as permitted by law and by Section 7.

11.2 Legacy services are provided at our sole discretion and may be discontinued at any time. Nothing in this section obligates us to offer, continue, or reinstate a legacy service.

12. Hiring Our Team Members
Why this section matters
Our specialists are employees, not contractors we found on an app. We recruit them carefully, run background checks, train them in Fear Free handling and behavior work, insure them, supervise them, and pay for their continuing education. That investment is the reason your dog gets the care they get.

When a client hires a specialist directly, it removes a trained person from the team that serves every other client, and it removes the insurance, backup coverage, and oversight that protect you. We are not trying to prevent you from having a real relationship with your specialist. We are asking you not to hire them away from us.

Agreement

12.1 During your engagement with The Pet Care Club and for twelve (12) months after it ends, you agree not to directly or indirectly solicit, hire, employ, engage, contract with, or entice away any current or former team member of The Pet Care Club whom you met or learned of through us, whether for pet care or for any other type of work.

12.2 This applies to arrangements made in your name and to arrangements made on your behalf or at your direction by a member of your household.

12.3 What this does not restrict. This section restricts direct hiring by clients. It does not restrict where our team members may work, and it does not apply where a team member responds to a general public job posting not directed at our staff, or where we have released the arrangement in writing. We are generally willing to discuss a release. Please ask us first.

12.4 Liquidated damages. The parties agree that actual damages from a breach of this section would be difficult to calculate at the time of contracting, and that the amount below is a reasonable estimate of the harm rather than a penalty. In the event of a breach, you agree to pay liquidated damages equal to the greater of seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500) or the gross revenue we earned from that team member's services in the twelve (12) months before the solicitation or hire.

12.5 Liquidated damages under this section are payable by invoice and due within thirty (30) days. Section 7 applies to collection of any unpaid amount.

12.6 Our team members are separately prohibited by their own agreements from soliciting Company clients.

13. Photos of Your Pet
Why this section matters
Our specialists take photos on nearly every visit. Most go straight to you. Occasionally one is good enough that we would love to share it.

Agreement

13.1 You grant The Pet Care Club permission to photograph and record video of your pet during services and to use those images on our website, blog, social media, marketing materials, and other platforms we own or use for marketing.

13.2 To protect your privacy, we do not publish client last names or street addresses, and we generally identify pets by first name and general neighborhood only.

13.3 We will not photograph the interior of your home in a way that identifies your address or displays personal information, other than incidentally in the background of a pet photo.

13.4 Opting out. If you prefer that your pet not be featured, tell us in writing and we will note it on your account. Please let us know before services begin where possible. You may withdraw this permission at any time in writing, and we will stop future use, though we may not be able to recall materials already printed or distributed.

13.5 This permission is granted without compensation and continues after services end unless you withdraw it.

14. Ending Services
Why this section matters
Most relationships end quietly and amicably. Occasionally we need the ability to stop, either because a situation is unsafe or because the fit is not right. This explains when and how.

Agreement

14.1 We may terminate this Agreement, suspend services, decline future bookings, or end a service in progress if, in our reasonable judgment:

a pet presents a risk to itself, to our employees, to other people, or to other animals;
the home environment is unsafe, unsanitary, inaccessible, or hostile;
required information has not been provided or has proven inaccurate;
access cannot be reliably obtained;
an account is past due;
you have breached this Agreement; or
the relationship is no longer an appropriate fit.

14.2 Where circumstances allow, we will give you reasonable notice and work with you on a transition. Where safety requires it, termination may be immediate.

14.3 If a pet cannot safely remain in the home or in service, you authorize us to place the pet in a kennel, veterinary clinic, emergency boarding facility, or other appropriate location, with all related costs charged to you.

14.4 You may end services at any time by notifying our office. Membership cancellation is governed by the Membership Agreement. Amounts already owed remain payable.

14.5 Survival. Sections 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15, and 16 survive termination of this Agreement.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
Why this section matters
If a serious disagreement ever arises, both of us benefit from knowing in advance where and how it gets resolved. We would much rather talk it through first, and this section is written to give that a real chance.

PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS HOW DISPUTES BETWEEN US ARE RESOLVED AND INCLUDES A RIGHT TO OPT OUT OF ARBITRATION.

Agreement

15.1 Governing law. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

15.2 Talk to us first. Before starting arbitration or litigation, the party with a concern agrees to give the other written notice describing the issue and what would resolve it, and to allow thirty (30) days to work it out in good faith. Most problems end here.

15.3 Arbitration. If we cannot resolve it, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to this Agreement or our services will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

15.4 Location and costs. Arbitration will take place in King County, Washington, unless the parties agree otherwise in writing or the arbitrator permits telephonic or virtual proceedings. Filing, administrative, and arbitrator fees will be allocated in accordance with the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules. Each party otherwise bears its own costs, subject to Section 7.7.

15.5 Small claims. Either party may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court instead of arbitration.

15.6 Injunctive relief. Either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to protect confidential information, intellectual property, or to prevent immediate and irreparable harm.

15.7 Individual basis. Claims will be brought on an individual basis only, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative proceeding, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

15.8 YOUR RIGHT TO OPT OUT. You may opt out of this arbitration provision by sending written notice to us at the address in Section 16.7 within thirty (30) days of first accepting this Agreement, stating your name and that you decline arbitration. Opting out will not affect your services or your relationship with us in any way, and no other part of this Agreement changes if you do.

15.9 Judgment on any arbitration award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.

16. General Provisions
Why this section matters
Standard contract mechanics. Short, but they matter if any part of this document is ever tested.

Agreement

16.1 Binding effect. This Agreement binds the parties and their heirs, executors, administrators, successors, and permitted assigns. You may not assign this Agreement without our written consent. We may assign it in connection with a sale or transfer of the business.

16.2 Severability. If any provision is found invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full force, and the invalid provision will be enforced to the maximum extent allowed by law.

16.3 Waiver. No waiver is valid unless made in writing by The Pet Care Club. Choosing not to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive it going forward.

16.4 Entire agreement. This Agreement, together with the Client Care Policies & Handbook, the Membership Agreement where applicable, our published pricing, and your invoices, service orders, and booking confirmations, is the entire understanding between us on the subjects it covers, and supersedes all prior oral or written understandings on those subjects, including any prior Terms & Conditions or Service Agreement you previously signed.

16.5 Amendment. This Agreement may be modified only as described in Section 1.4, or by a written document signed by both parties.

16.6 Electronic signatures and records. You agree that electronic signatures and electronic records have the same legal effect as handwritten signatures and paper records, consistent with Washington's Uniform Electronic Transactions Act and the federal E-SIGN Act. You consent to receive notices, agreements, invoices, and disclosures electronically at the email address on your account.

16.7 Notices. Written notice to the Company should be sent to:

The Pet Care Club of Seattle [MAILING ADDRESS] [EMAIL]

Notice to you will be sent to the email or mailing address on your account. It is your responsibility to keep that information current.

16.8 Privacy. We collect and use your information only to deliver services, communicate with you, and operate our business. We do not sell client information. Home access details, alarm codes, and lockbox combinations are stored in our secured client management system and are accessible only to authorized team members with a need to know.

16.9 Independent relationship. Nothing in this Agreement creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and The Pet Care Club.

16.10 Headings and plain-language introductions. The "Why this section matters" and "Our commitment" introductions are provided to help you understand each section. They are explanatory. Where an introduction and the operative Agreement language differ, the Agreement language controls.

Client Care Policies & Handbook

Client Care Policies & Handbook
The Pet Care Club of Seattle
Version 2026.1 | Effective October 1st, 2026

Welcome to the Club
We have been caring for Seattle pets since 2007. In that time, we have learned that the difference between good pet care and great pet care is rarely dramatic. It is consistency, communication, and knowing the dog in front of you.

This Handbook explains how we operate day-to-day: how to schedule, how billing works, what happens when it snows, and what to expect from your Care Team. It is the practical companion to your Service Agreement.

How this Handbook works with your other documents:

Your Service Agreement is the legal contract between us. It covers liability, insurance, authorizations, and dispute resolution. This Handbook covers operations, and it is incorporated into your Service Agreement by reference, which means the policies here are binding. If anything here ever conflicts with the Service Agreement on a question of legal responsibility, the Service Agreement controls.

We update this Handbook as our services evolve. Current clients receive at least thirty (30) days' notice by email before a material policy change takes effect, and the current version always lives on our website.

1. Our Care Team Philosophy
We are not a gig app. We do not send whoever is nearest and available.

Every dog in our care is assigned a Care Team: a small, consistent group of specialists who know your dog by name, know their quirks, know which neighbor's fence they react to, and know what a good day looks like for them.

This is not a backup system. It is the structure itself, and it is the single biggest reason our clients stay with us for years. One walker means one point of failure. A Care Team means your dog is never handed to a stranger when someone is sick, on vacation, or moving on.

Our specialists are employees, not independent contractors. They are background-checked, insured, trained in Fear Free handling, paid a living wage, and supported with ongoing education we pay for. When you hire us, you are hiring a company with standards, oversight, and accountability, not renting a stranger by the hour.

That philosophy is also why our walks are more than a loop around the block.

After hours. Messages sent outside office hours are answered the next business day. For a true emergency involving a pet in our care, call the office line and follow the emergency prompt.

Response times. We aim to respond to all messages within one business day. Schedule changes and cancellations are confirmed in writing, so if you have not received a confirmation, assume the change has not been made.

3. Communication Policy
Why this policy exists

Our specialists spend their days driving, walking dogs, and working in client homes. They should focus on the pet in front of them, not their phone. Routing everything through the office also means every request is documented, so nothing depends on someone remembering a conversation from a leash handoff.

How it works

All bookings, schedule changes, cancellations, service updates, and care instruction changes go through the office, by phone, text, email, or the booking software. Requests made directly to a specialist, left on a counter, or mentioned in passing cannot be guaranteed.

Direct communication with your specialist is limited to communication during an active service window.

Privacy for our team. Our specialists are not permitted to share personal contact information such as last names, personal phone numbers, personal email addresses, or home addresses. This protects them, and it protects you by keeping all service communication documented.

Payments. Service payments go through Company-approved channels only. Peer-to-peer apps such as Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, Apple Pay, and Cash App are not accepted for services. Tips are always welcome, in cash or through the booking software.

4. Getting Started
Step 1: Reach out. Tell us about your pet, your neighborhood, and what you are looking for.

Step 2: Consultation. We meet you and your pet, walk through the home, test the access method, and talk through routines.

Canceled consultations that are not rescheduled are charged at full price.

Step 3: Profile setup. You complete your pet and household profile in our booking software, including feeding, medication, veterinary information, emergency contacts, behavior notes, and access details.

Step 4: Documents. You review and sign the Service Agreement and the Membership Agreement if you are enrolling in a membership.

Step 5: Access. We confirm your lockbox or approved entry method and test it before your first visit.

Step 6: First visit. Your primary specialist takes the first walk, usually with the office closely monitoring the report card, and we adjust from there.

5. Our Services
Classic Walk. Our on-demand walk, available as needed. Reliable, professional care with the same standards and the same insured, trained team.

Behavior + Enrichment Walk. Our membership walk, delivered by a Canine Behavior & Enrichment Specialist. These walks build on a plan for your specific dog: decompression sniffing, confidence work, leash skills, environmental enrichment, and structured pacing. This is where "more than a loop around the block" actually lives.

Puppy visits. Shorter, more frequent visits built around a young puppy's bladder, brain, and social development.

In-home cat care. Feeding, fresh water, litter box maintenance, medication, play, and a real set of eyes on your cat. Cats are cared for on their own terms, in their own home, with detailed visit notes.

Small pet care. Rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, and other small companions.

Dog training. Private training with our Fear Free Certified Trainer.

Service availability varies by neighborhood and by staffing. Not every service is available in every zip code at every time.

6. Membership Overview
The Canine Behavior & Enrichment Membership will launch in Fall 2026, beginning in zip codes 98103 and 98117, with 10 founding spots available in each zip code.

Membership will reserve dedicated time with your dog's Care Team each week, rather than paying visit by visit. Members will receive:

Behavior + Enrichment Walks delivered by a Canine Behavior & Enrichment Specialist
A consistent Care Team and a reserved weekly schedule
A behavior and enrichment plan built around your individual dog
Priority scheduling and priority access to holiday coverage
Detailed visit notes tied to your dog's plan

Membership tiers will be described by frequency:

Minimum commitment for membership walks will be three days per week.

Full terms, billing details, missed-visit policy, and cancellation terms will be set out in the separate Membership Agreement, which members will sign at enrollment. This section is an overview only.

Not enrolling? Classic Walks, cat care, puppy visits, small pet care, and training will remain available on an on-demand basis.

7. Services for Existing Clients Only
As we transition to a membership-focused model, several services are no longer offered to new clients. They remain available to qualifying long-standing clients, as a courtesy, when staffing allows:

Boarding
Almost-overnight stays
Overnight visits
Vacation pet visits
Day care and evening care

These services are not guaranteed for any future booking, are offered entirely at our discretion, depend on staffing availability, and may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time. Booking one does not create a right to book it again.

If you are unsure whether you qualify, please ask the office before making travel plans that depend on it.

8. Scheduling
Booking windows. For recurring service, please give us as much notice as possible. For vacation coverage and any service in a holiday period, see Sections 11 and 12.

Visit times are approximate. We schedule in windows, not at exact minutes. Route flow, traffic, weather, another dog's needs, and emergencies all shift timing. If your pet needs medication on a strict schedule, tell us at consultation so we can build the route around it, and we will do our best to keep a tight window.

Who covers your visit? Your pet's Care Team covers visits, which is the whole point of the team structure. We will note in your visit report who was there.

Adding visits. Same-day and short-notice requests are always welcome and are accommodated when staffing allows. They are never guaranteed.

Surcharges. Premium service windows carry surcharges beginning at $10 per visit, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Emergency or urgent requests between 12:00 AM and 6:00 AM are charged at double the listed per-visit rate, regardless of cause.

Transportation adjustment. In the event of an extraordinary and sustained increase in transportation costs, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control, we reserve the right to introduce a temporary transportation adjustment with at least thirty (30) days' written notice.

9. Home Access
We require a working lockbox wherever your building allows one. This is the single most reliable way to guarantee your pet gets their visit. Keys get misplaced, phones die, smart locks lose connectivity, and building staff change. A lockbox does not.

If your building prohibits an exterior lockbox, we will work with you on an approved alternative: keys, fobs, concierge access, call boxes, smart locks, garage codes, or gate codes.

Please keep these current: lockbox combination, alarm codes, gate codes, building entry procedures, and anything that has changed about the door itself.

A few practical things:

Test your lockbox and access codes before you travel.
Replace smart lock batteries proactively.
Let us know when building staff, codes, or entry procedures change.
If we cannot get in, we will attempt to reach you and your emergency contact, and the visit may still be billed.

Key handling. A fee applies if we need to pick up or return keys outside a scheduled service. Keys are returned only in person, by trackable mail, or by another method we agree to in writing. We never leave keys unsecured at the property, including on the last day of a service period. Keys may be destroyed after twelve months of account inactivity.

10. Billing and Payment
How billing works

A valid credit or debit card is kept on file for as long as your account is active.
Service fees are billed on completion of the services listed on your invoice, unless we have told you otherwise.
Membership fees are billed on the schedule set out in the Membership Agreement.
Deposits, surcharges, supply reimbursements, and emergency costs are billed as incurred.

Late payment. If payment is not received within ten (10) days of the due date, a $20 late fee is assessed and may recur monthly until the balance is paid. Accounts significantly past due may have services suspended, and unpaid balances may be referred to a licensed collection agency.

Questions about a charge? Contact the office within fourteen (14) days, and we will review it with you. We would much rather sort it out directly than have you file a chargeback, which slows everything down for both of us.

Price changes. We give at least thirty (30) days' written notice before any rate or membership price increase.

Tips. Always appreciated, never expected. Cash or through the booking software.
Courtesy Credit Policy
From time to time, we issue courtesy credits at our discretion. Courtesy credits:

are not redeemable for cash;
may be used only toward future services with The Pet Care Club;
expire six (6) months from the date issued unless we state otherwise; and
may be modified or revoked by us at any time before they are used.

Unused credits are forfeited at expiration and are not reissued.

11. Cancellation Policies
Why these exist

When you book, we hold that time. We assign a specialist, build a route around it, and turn away other work to protect it. Late cancellations mean a specialist loses paid hours they were counting on. These windows are what let us pay people fairly and keep the same team on your dog year after year.

All cancellations must go through the office. A message to your specialist is not a cancellation.

Short-notice bookings. Services booked within 48 hours of the requested start date require an upfront, non-refundable payment of 50% of the invoice.

Vacation and overnight services. These require 14 days' notice before the scheduled start date. Cancellations inside that window are charged as scheduled unless we are able to refill the time.

Membership has its own cancellation and credit structure, which is more flexible than the above. See the Membership Agreement.

12. Holiday Policies
Why these exist

Holidays are when our team gives up their own family time so your pets are cared for. We pay premium rates for that, and we commit to staffing weeks in advance based on confirmed bookings. Holiday policies are stricter because demand is higher on our side and cannot be undone at the last minute.

Holiday periods generally include Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, and Labor Day, along with the heavy travel weekends and surrounding dates. Exact dates vary year to year based on demand and are published in advance.

Holiday surcharges begin at $5 per booked visit and vary by demand and staffing.
Holiday cancellation terms
Cat visits during a holiday period: 14 days' notice required. No credits or refunds for visits canceled inside that window.

Holiday boarding, overnight visits, almost-overnights, and vacation pet visits: a 50% non-refundable deposit is due at confirmation.

When you cancel
What happens to the deposit

Refunded to your payment method
14–21 days before start
Issued as account credit, usable for the same service type within 6 months
9–14 days before start
Forfeited

No credit or refund

Booking early matters. Holiday capacity is limited and fills quickly. Members receive priority access to holiday coverage.

13. Inclement Weather and Emergencies
Our approach

We show up in weather most people would not walk in. But there is a point where sending a specialist out puts them or your dog at real risk, and we will not cross it. Seattle gives us ice on hills, wildfire smoke in August, and windstorms that drop trees across arterials. When that happens, safety decides.

What we do

We make every reasonable effort to provide services as scheduled.
In heavy rain, lightning, thunderstorms, wildfire smoke, or extreme heat, outdoor time may be shortened and replaced with indoor play, enrichment, and care.
If we must delay, shorten, reschedule, or cancel, we notify you and your emergency contact as soon as practicable.
Visits we cancel due to severe weather or unsafe conditions are generally issued as account credit for future use.

What we ask of you

Provide a local emergency contact. This is the single most important thing. We need someone who can reach your home on foot if roads are impassable, who has working access, and who can care for your pet if we cannot get there. If you are traveling, confirm this person is actually in town.

Clear your walkways. Keep steps, paths, and entry points reasonably clear of ice, snow, and debris. If you are away, consider arranging for a neighbor to handle this.

Understand the limits. Snow, ice, flooding, storms, wildfire smoke, extreme heat, power outages, road closures, natural disasters, and public emergencies are outside our reasonable control. Section 8 of your Service Agreement addresses responsibility in these situations.

14. Veterinary Emergencies
If your pet appears to need immediate veterinary attention while in our care, and we cannot reach you or your emergency contact, we are authorized to get them care. We will not wait.

What happens:

We assess and stabilize as best we can.
We call you. Then your emergency contact. Then we keep calling.
If we cannot reach anyone and the situation is urgent, we transport to your listed veterinarian or the nearest emergency hospital.
We keep you updated as information comes in.

Please make sure your profile has: your current veterinarian, your preferred emergency hospital, an emergency contact who can be reached, and your emergency treatment spending limit.

Veterinary costs, medications, transport, and additional staff time are your responsibility. Full terms are in Section 9 of your Service Agreement.

A note on euthanasia: we will not make that decision for you. It stays yours.

15. Photos and Updates
You get a visit report after every service: what happened, how your pet did, potty notes, feeding, medication, anything we noticed. Members receive notes tied to their dog's behavior and enrichment plan.

And photos. Lots of photos.

Occasionally we would love to share one publicly. We never publish client last names or addresses, and we identify pets by first name and general neighborhood only. If you would rather your pet not be featured, just tell us in writing, and we will flag your account.

16. Concerns, Credits, and Refunds
Tell us. Please.

If something was not right, we want to know while we can still do something about it. Most issues are fixable in a conversation, and the ones we never hear about are the ones that quietly end a good relationship.

How it works:

Raise any concern or request a review of charges within 14 days of service completion.
We review in good faith and respond directly.
Depending on the situation, we may offer a refund, partial refund, courtesy credit, additional service, or a change to your care plan.

The fine print: except where we agree otherwise in writing, fees are non-refundable. A refund or credit is not guaranteed simply because an outcome was disappointing, particularly where it was outside our control or falls within the risks described in your Service Agreement.

17. Frequently Asked Questions
Will the same person always walk my dog? Your primary specialist handles most visits. When they are out, another member of your dog's Care Team covers. Everyone on the team has met your dog and knows their plan. This is by design, not a fallback.

What if my dog is reactive, anxious, or a work in progress? Tell us everything at consultation. We would much rather know. Our specialists are trained in Fear Free handling, and reactive dogs are a normal part of our work. We will be honest if we think a dog is not a fit for a particular service.

Do you work with dogs who are already seeing a trainer or behaviorist? Yes, and we are glad to coordinate. Where a client is working with an outside professional on a specific protocol, that protocol stays with them. We follow the plan; we do not rewrite it.

Can I request a specific time? You can request one, and we will get as close as we reasonably can. Visit times are windows, not appointments, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing for a medical reason.

What happens if you cannot get into my home? We attempt entry, then call you, then call your emergency contact. If we cannot get in, the visit may still be billed. This is why we push so hard on lockboxes.

Do you administer medication? Yes, including oral medication, topicals, and injectables where we have been trained on the specific administration. Tell us at consultation so the right specialist is assigned.

Do you walk dogs off leash? No. Dogs in our care stay leashed and under handler control, except in a securely fenced private yard where you have authorized it in writing.

Do you take dogs to the dog park? No. Off-leash group environments carry risks we are not willing to take on with someone else's dog.

Can I tip my specialist? Absolutely, and they appreciate it. Cash or through the booking software. Not through Venmo or similar apps.

What if I want to hire my specialist directly? Please talk to us first. Section 12 of the Service Agreement covers this, and we are generally willing to discuss a release. We ask that the conversation happens with us, not around us.

Do you serve my neighborhood? We serve Seattle and the surrounding north-end neighborhoods. Membership will launch first in 98103 and 98117. Call the office, and we will tell you honestly.

How do I cancel service entirely? Contact the office. If you are a member, see the Membership Agreement for notice requirements. Amounts already owed remain payable, and we will always help with a clean handoff.

Questions this Handbook did not answer? Call the office. We would rather talk it through.

Membership Agreement

Membership Agreement
Canine Behavior & Enrichment Membership
The Pet Care Club of Seattle
Version 2026.1 | Effective October 1st, 2026

Why We Built This
For years we sold walks. You booked a visit, we walked your dog, you paid for that visit. It worked, but it quietly limited what we could actually do.

A dog who gets walked when the schedule allows is getting exercise. A dog on a consistent weekly rhythm, with the same small team, working through a real plan, is getting something different. Their reactivity improves because the same handler sees the same trigger every Tuesday. Their confidence builds because someone is tracking it. Their walks stop being a loop around the block and start being the best part of their day.

That requires reserved time. It requires specialists we can train, retain, and pay well enough to keep. It requires knowing in September what our routes look like in November.

That is what this membership is. You reserve dedicated time with your dog's Care Team each week. We build everything else around it.

How This Agreement Works
This Membership Agreement covers the terms specific to your membership. It works alongside two other documents:

Your Service Agreement, which contains the legal terms of our relationship, including liability, insurance, home access, and veterinary authorization.
The Client Care Policies & Handbook, which covers day-to-day operations.

All three apply to you. Where this Membership Agreement addresses a membership-specific topic, such as billing, missed visits, or membership cancellation, this document controls. On questions of legal responsibility, the Service Agreement controls.

1. What Your Membership Includes
Agreement

1.1 Your membership provides a reserved weekly schedule of Behavior + Enrichment Walks, delivered in your home neighborhood by a Canine Behavior & Enrichment Specialist who is a member of your dog's assigned Care Team.

1.2 Membership tiers are defined by weekly frequency:

Tier
Walks per week
Monthly rate
3-Day
3
$[____]
4-Day
4
$[____]
5-Day
5
$[____]

Walk lengths available: [45 minutes] / [60 minutes]. Your selected tier, walk length, days of week, and rate are recorded in your membership enrollment.

1.3 Membership includes:

A reserved weekly schedule held specifically for your dog
A consistent Care Team who know your dog and their plan
A behavior and enrichment plan built around your individual dog, reviewed and updated over time
Detailed visit notes connected to that plan
Priority scheduling, including priority access to holiday coverage
Member rates on additional services

1.4 Membership is available only in service areas we have opened to membership. As of the effective date, membership is offered in zip codes 98103 and 98117. We may expand, modify, or close membership areas at our discretion.

1.5 Membership is offered for dogs only. Cat care, small pet care, and training are booked separately.

1.6 Nothing in this Agreement guarantees the availability of a specific individual specialist, a specific time of day, or a specific route. Care is delivered by your dog's Care Team.

2. Reserved Scheduling
Why this matters

When you enroll, we do not add you to a list of people who might need walks. We take your days off the board.

A specialist's route is built around your dog. We turn away other clients to protect that time. We staff, hire, and train against those commitments months in advance. That reservation is the product, and it is what makes consistency possible for your dog and a stable income possible for the person walking them.

Agreement

2.1 On enrollment, you select the days of the week your membership walks occur. Those days are reserved for your dog on an ongoing basis.

2.2 Your reserved schedule continues automatically week to week without the need to rebook.

2.3 Reserved time is held for your dog whether or not you use it. See Section 4.

2.4 Requests to permanently change your reserved days are handled under Section 7 and are subject to route availability.

2.5 We may need to adjust your reserved window, meaning the approximate time of day, as routes change. We will give you as much notice as we reasonably can and will work with you to find a workable window. Changes to your reserved days will not be made without your agreement, except where we are discontinuing service in your area under Section 9.

3. Flat-Rate Billing
Why this matters

Your membership is a monthly commitment to reserved capacity, not a punch card of individual walks. This is the same structure as a preschool tuition, a fitness membership, a music lesson slot, or a standing appointment with any professional whose time you are holding.

We understand this is a shift if you are used to paying per walk. It is also the only structure that lets us guarantee your dog the same people, the same days, and a plan that actually progresses.

Agreement

3.1 Membership fees are a flat monthly rate based on your selected tier. The rate is not a per-visit charge and is not calculated by counting the walks in a given month.

3.2 Because months vary in length, some months contain more scheduled walks than others. Your rate does not change. Over a year, this evens out.

3.3 Your membership rate remains the same whether or not every reserved walk is used.

3.4 Membership rates do not include surcharges for premium windows, holiday surcharges, additional services beyond your tier, transport, supplies, or emergency costs. Those are billed separately per the Handbook.

4. Billing and Renewal
Agreement

4.1 Billing date. Membership fees are charged to your payment method on file on the [1st] of each month, in advance, for that month's service.

4.2 First month. Your first payment is charged on enrollment. If your start date falls mid-month, the first month is prorated based on the number of reserved walk days remaining in that month.

4.3 Automatic renewal. Your membership renews automatically each month until you cancel it under Section 8. You may cancel at any time, subject to the notice period in Section 8.

4.4 Payment method. You agree to keep a valid credit or debit card on file. If a charge fails, we will notify you and attempt to resolve it. If payment is not resolved within ten (10) days, membership walks may be suspended and your reserved schedule may be released.

4.5 Price changes. We will give you at least thirty (30) days' written notice before any membership price increase. Founding members are subject to Section 10.

4.6 Past due accounts. Late fees and collection terms are set out in the Handbook and in Section 7 of your Service Agreement.

5. Missed and Unused Walks
Why this matters

This is the part people ask about most, so we want to be direct rather than bury it.

Your fee holds a specialist's time. If your dog does not use a reserved walk, that time was still reserved, the route was still built around it, and the specialist still needs to be paid for the day. That is why unused walks do not roll over.

But we are not trying to be rigid about a life that has snow days, sick days, and unexpected travel. Section 6 is where we build in flexibility.

Agreement

5.1 No rollover. Reserved walks that are not used within the calendar week do not roll over, bank, or carry forward, and are not refunded, except as provided in Section 6.

5.2 Walks we miss. If we are unable to provide a reserved walk for reasons within our control, including staffing shortfalls, we will offer a make-up walk in the same or following week, or a credit toward your next month at your election.

5.3 Weather and events beyond our control. Walks canceled by us due to severe weather or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control are handled under the Handbook and Section 8 of your Service Agreement. Where we cancel for safety, we will offer a make-up walk where staffing allows, or an account credit.

5.4 Failed access. If we cannot access your home, or your dog is not available for a reserved walk, the walk is considered used.

5.5 Your dog is unwell or injured. If your dog cannot walk for medical reasons, contact the office. For short absences, Section 6 applies. For an extended medical situation, Section 9 (Suspension) applies, and we will work with you.

6. Cancellation Credits and Flexibility
Why this matters

Real life happens. You are home sick, your dog has a vet appointment, you took the day off and want to walk them yourself. We would rather build reasonable flexibility into the membership than have you feel penalized for living your life.

Agreement

6.1 Same-week rescheduling. With at least 24 hours' notice to the office, a reserved walk may be moved to a different day within the same calendar week, subject to route availability. There is no charge for this.

6.2 Cancellation credits. Members receive [two (2)] cancellation credits per calendar month. A credit may be applied to a reserved walk canceled with at least 24 hours' notice, and issues an account credit equal to the per-walk value of that walk, usable toward any Pet Care Club service.

6.3 Cancellation credits do not roll over between months and are not redeemable for cash.

6.4 Less than 24 hours' notice. Walks canceled with less than 24 hours' notice are considered used and are not eligible for rescheduling or credit.

6.5 Vacation and extended absence. For absences of one full week or longer, see Section 9 (Suspension). Suspension is generally the better option for travel and is not limited by Section 6.2.

6.6 Account credits issued under this Agreement expire six (6) months from the date issued and are governed by the Courtesy Credit Policy in the Handbook.

7. Changing Your Membership
Agreement

7.1 Changing tiers. You may request a change to a different tier at any time. Tier changes take effect at the start of the next billing month, subject to route availability. Upgrades are accommodated as quickly as staffing allows.

7.2 Changing days. Requests to permanently change your reserved days are accommodated where route availability allows. Because routes are built around reserved commitments, day changes may take up to thirty (30) days to implement, and in some cases may not be possible without a tier change.

7.3 Changing walk length. Walk length may be changed at the start of a billing month, subject to availability, with the rate adjusted accordingly.

7.4 Adding a dog. Additional dogs in the same household are added at the applicable multi-dog rate. Each dog receives their own behavior and enrichment plan.

7.5 Moving. If you move within a membership service area, tell us as early as possible and we will work to keep your reserved schedule, though route changes may be required. If you move outside a membership service area, your membership will end under Section 8.5 without a cancellation notice period.

7.6 Downgrade limits. To keep routes stable, we ask that tier changes be limited to [one per quarter] absent a change in circumstances. Talk to us if something has genuinely changed.

8. Ending Your Membership
Why this matters

We never want you to feel stuck. We also need enough notice to rebuild a route and give the reserved time to someone else, because that time represents a specialist's income.

Agreement

8.1 Notice. You may cancel your membership at any time by giving thirty (30) days' written notice to the office by email or through the booking software.

8.2 During the notice period. Your membership continues, service continues, and you are billed normally through the end of the notice period.

8.3 No partial-month refunds. Membership fees for a month already begun are not refunded. Service continues through the end of that month.

8.4 After cancellation. Your reserved schedule is released. Classic Walks and other on-demand services remain available to you. If you re-enroll later, membership is subject to availability at that time, and founding member benefits under Section 10 do not carry over unless we agree in writing.

8.5 Cancellation by us. We may end a membership by giving you thirty (30) days' written notice, or immediately where Section 14 of your Service Agreement applies, where an account is significantly past due, or where a dog can no longer safely participate. If we end a membership without cause, we will refund any prepaid fees for service not yet provided.

8.6 Discontinuing an area. If we discontinue membership service in your area, we will give you as much notice as reasonably possible, refund prepaid fees for service not provided, and help you transition to on-demand services.

9. Suspending Your Membership
Why this matters

If you travel for a month or your dog has surgery, canceling and re-enrolling would mean losing your reserved days and possibly your Care Team. A hold protects both.

Agreement

9.1 Vacation and travel holds. You may suspend your membership for a minimum of one (1) full week and a maximum of [four (4)] weeks per calendar year, with at least [fourteen (14) days'] advance notice to the office.

9.2 Billing during a hold. Membership fees are prorated for suspended weeks, or a hold fee of $[____] per week applies to retain your reserved schedule, as specified at enrollment.

9.3 What a hold protects. During a suspension, your reserved days, your Care Team assignment, and your membership rate are held for you.

9.4 Medical suspension. If your dog cannot participate for documented medical reasons, contact the office. Medical suspensions are handled case by case, do not count against your annual suspension allowance, and we will work with you in good faith.

9.5 Returning. Your membership resumes automatically on the date agreed at the time of suspension. Extending a hold beyond the agreed return date requires our approval and may result in release of your reserved schedule.

9.6 Suspensions by us. We may suspend membership walks where an account is past due, where required information is missing, where a home cannot be accessed, or where safety requires it.

10. Founding Member Benefits
Why this matters

The first members are taking a bet on a program that is new. They are also the people who will shape it, and we would rather recognize that permanently than with a one-time discount.

Agreement

10.1 Founding spots. Founding membership is limited to ten (10) spots per launch zip code, in 98103 and 98117.

10.2 Founding member benefits include:

Rate lock. Your founding monthly rate is guaranteed for [twelve (12) months] from your enrollment date. General price increases under Section 4.5 will not apply to you during that period.
First access. Priority in day and route selection ahead of later enrollments.
Holiday priority. First access to holiday coverage capacity.
Founding member designation on your account, permanently.
[Additional benefit placeholder]

10.3 Maintaining founding status. Founding benefits continue for as long as your membership remains active and in good standing. Founding status is lost if you cancel your membership, and does not automatically return on re-enrollment.

10.4 A suspension under Section 9 does not affect founding status.

10.5 Founding benefits are personal to you and your household and are not transferable.

11. Relationship to Your Other Documents
Agreement

11.1 This Membership Agreement is supplemental to your Service Agreement and the Client Care Policies & Handbook, all of which remain in full force.

11.2 Where this Agreement addresses a membership-specific matter, this Agreement controls. On any question of legal responsibility, liability, insurance, authorization, or dispute resolution, the Service Agreement controls.

11.3 We may update this Agreement on at least thirty (30) days' written notice. Continued membership after the notice period constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept a material change, you may cancel under Section 8 and, where the change takes effect before your notice period ends, we will honor your prior terms through the end of that period.

11.4 Governing law, arbitration, and dispute resolution are covered by Section 15 of your Service Agreement and apply equally here.
